Socks aren’t just for feet!
They fit conveniently over hands, too, and can make great cleaning cloths. Add a friendly cat face, and kids will always have a buddy on hand to help them clean!
What you’ll need:
- old or lone socks in good condition
- fabric markers
- cardboard
- scissors
Directions:
The silliness of putting socks on their hands will have great appeal to kids. Choose a sock without holes that will fit comfortably over your child’s hand and wrist. It can be a big sock, but you don’t want it to be too floppy.
Cut a piece of cardboard to fit inside the sock and insert it. Lay the sock down on a flat surface with the sole side up.
Provide your child with fabric markers to draw a cat face on the sock. Your child may need some help keeping the sock from moving around while drawing.
When your child is finished drawing, give the fabric marker time to dry or follow the heat-set instructions for the markers you have. During drying time, read The Cat in the Hat and talk about the Cat’s efforts to get things cleaned up.
When the drawing is dry, take the cardboard out of the sock. Then show your child how to introduce the Clean Up Cat to all your dust bunnies!
