Recycled Cloth Napkin Rings

Americans consume an average of 2,200 standard two-ply napkins per person per year. That’s a lot of paper! Speaking for the trees that make that paper, the Lorax hopes you will make these colorful napkin rings to help you remember to use cloth napkins instead.  They will make your dinner table beautiful on Earth Day and every day!

What you’ll need:

  • Cardboard toilet paper tubes
  • Ruler
  • Paint and paintbrush
  • Small, found natural objects like seeds, stones, shells, and twigs
  • Glue, optional

Directions:

Cut the cardboard tube into pieces about 1 ½ inches long.

Paint the outside of each ring. (You can paint the inside too, if you like.) Encourage your child to experiment with colors and paint interesting designs. Or paint a solid color and embellish with small objects from nature.

Let dry completely. Add your cloth napkins and set the table for a lovely meal!
